Covers are worn, endpapers have become detached from inside covers, but are present. Inside pages are very good. an account of the author's long and varied career -- from flunking out of West Point, to his years as a surveyor in West Texas (he was responsible for platting and naming El Paso) to his military service in the Civil War and the Indian Wars, his design of a woven cartridge belt and his later years as the American Boundary Commissioner in El Paso.
